Yesterday I made a really delicious green smoothie and got several recipe requests! So I thought I would share. It truly is a great smoothie for anybody looking to add in some extra greens to their day. And it’s especially wonderful for us pregnant gals that would rather drink our greens than eat them! Yay lack of appetite.
Now I wish I could take credit for this smoothie recipe but it belongs to one of my favorite sites/blogs Nutrition Stripped ! She has all kinds of wonderful recipes and highly recommend checking out her site or Facebook page!
Here’s the recipe my friends!
Ingredients:
2 cups filtered water
5 large stalks of celery, chopped
1 large head of romaine lettuce, chopped
1 large bunch of lacinato kale, destemmed and chopped
1 cup of coconut water
1 large fuji apple, cored and chopped
2 medium bananas
1/2 cup chopped cucumber
1/2 cup fresh cilantro
1/2 cup fresh parsley leaves
Juice of 1 lemon
Juice of 1 lime
4 brazil nuts
1/2 inch piece of ginger
dash of cayenne (I didn’t do this)
dash of cinnamon
dash of turmeric
In a high speed blender combine the water, celery, and lettuce. Let it puree a bit and then add in the kale. Add in the rest of the ingredients along with some ice cubes to make it cold. Then serve over ice! Luckily this smoothie is good for about 3-4 days in an airtight container 🙂
